Hydrogen energy and fuel cell has been set as a key frontier technology during the 11th five-year plan.

 

The 11th five-year plan for energy development said the technology of hydrogen energy and fuel cell mean using high-efficient and cheap fossil energy and renewable energy to produce hydrogen, economical reservation and transportation of hydrogen, the key points in fuel cell technology, etc.

 

The raw materials for hydrogen production contain petroleum, natural gas, solar energy, water energy and wind energy. Therefore, the existence of hydrogen energy will bring much influence on petroleum economy and reduce the current dependence on fossil energy once the price of hydrogen has an absolute advantage over petroleum.

 

However, there are still many technological problems to be solved in the development of hydrogen energy, for example its low economical efficiency.

 

The product supply of hydrogen energy industry includes the research and development of hydrogen energy, hydrogen fuel cell, drive system for hydrogen fuel cell, hydrogen production, pouring hydrogen and the construction of hydrogen fueling stations. For example, Mercedes-Benz hydrogen fuel cell bus, running on the streets in Beijing, sells USD 200. Its high price is mainly due to the high cost of the engine, almost 10,000 per kilowatt.
