DaimlerChrysler Company Representatives Visited Shanghai 2005-11-03 On 4th – 5th August 2005, Mr. Walter Rau and Mr. Manfred Schuckert from DaimlerChrysler Company visited Shanghai. The proposal of visit focused on understanding the preparation of Shanghai project and exchanging the technical information with Shanghai PMO. DC representatives visited Shanghai Bus Zhangjiang Base and Tongji University Research Base of fuel-cell vehicle respectively.
In the morning of 4th August 2005, acommunication meeting of FCB technology and development was held in Shanghai Science & Technology Information Centre. The attendees involved the officers and experts from DC, Shanghai Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Shanghai Science & Technology Information Centre, Tongji University, Shanghai Bus Electric Vehicle Company and national PMO. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Qibiao from Shanghai Municipal Science & Technology Commission. He expressed the welcome for DC visit Shanghai and hoped to enhance communication and cooperation with DC to improve the FCB technology and development in Shanghai. Professor Yu from Tongji University gave a presentation on Shanghai project background, preparation and implementation. He especially introduced that Tongji University plan to produce ten fuel cell vehicles this year based on own technology and will start to demonstrable operation next year. According to professor Yu introduction, there are two super capacitance buses in operation in Shanghai now produced by Shanghai Bus Electric Vehicle Company and Aowei technology development Company, and other eight buses will continue to be in service soon. These achievements have shown that fuel cell project have great patience and improve the FC development in Shanghai. Dr Manfred Schuckert reported on the latest progress of CUTE project in the meeting. By August, total 33 Citaro accumulated log 880,000 km, 62,000 hrs and carried up 3000,000 passengers in European countries. Total hydrogen consumption was 150,000 kg for 33 buses. Some problems had been exposed during the demonstration period. Especially most troubles were caused by related infrastructure and spare parts, such as electronic parts and compressor. CUTE project will stop demonstration in 2006. DC plans to start the demonstration for hybrid FC bus in October 2008 and construct one hydrogen refueling station and other relevant infrastructure. The representative from national PMO updated on Beijing project process, including FCB custom clearance, certification and license registration issues. According to the lessons learned from Beijing experiences, Shanghai project will prepare the relevant documents early regarding the political requirements and regulations. DC went around the Shanghai Bus Zhangjiang Base in the afternoon. It is the national “863” R&D base on super capacitance vehicles. The main situation and data raise by base manager were as the following:
(1) the current two super capacitance buses in service were produced based on original bus. A bus weight 12 tons and fixed 360 of 80,000 farad super capacitance. (2) The maximum load is 16 tons and maximum power is 170w. Once filling time takes 2 mins and log 3-5 km. (3) In addition, a super capacitance station was constructed as well. DC representative were on board the bus.
DC representatives visited the Tongji University (Jiading campus) on 5th August. Corresponding to the professor Yu’s introduction, Tonggji University developed one hybrid vehicle and four fuel cell vehicles, while other ten FC vehicles will be produced in this year. Regarding the construction of hydrogen refueling station, Shanghai project will use the current one in Jiading campus. Thus some indicators will need to be rephrased and retested. This visit enhanced the information and technical communication between Shanghai PMO and DC. |
