On July 10, 2003 Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Secretary-General of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST), met and hosted a banquet with Mr. John R. Wallace, Chief Technical Advisor to the Demonstration Project for FCB Commercialization in China.
On the same day, Mr. Wallace signed a contract with MOST, which formally appointed him as the Chief Technical Advisor to the demonstration project. According to the contract, he will stay in office from July 2003 up to the conclusion of the first stage of the project. Mr. Wallace formerly served in important positions at Intel and Ford Motor, as wll as serving as the Chairman of Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas, the World Electric Vehicle Association, and the founding Chairman of the California Fuel Cell Partnership. Now he serves as a Director on the Boards of Enova Systems, Xantrex, Millennium Cell, and the Electric Drive Transportation Association (part of WEVA). He focuses his efforts on the strategic and technical study of alternative energy, advanced powertrains, power electronics and advanced batteries, and has extensive experience with fuel cell and hybrid electric vehicles.
During the talks, Secretary-General Shi reviewed the considerable achievements in Sino-American cooperation for clean vehicles promoted by MOST and Ford, and thanked Mr. Wallace for all his efforts in this area. In the meantime, he hoped that Mr. Wallace, with his rich knowledge and experience in fuel cell automobiles, will help bring the China demonstration project to a successful conclusion.
